The Care We Provide

At Wholehearted Midwifery, care goes far beyond checkboxes and appointments. It begins with a relationship. Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, newly expecting, or welcoming another little one, you’ll find gentle, attentive support through every stage of your journey.

We provide comprehensive midwifery care, including pre-conception planning, prenatal visits, labor and birth support, and postpartum care for both you and your baby, along with referrals to trusted specialists when needed.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal visits are where our relationship begins to grow. During this season, we focus on both clinical safety and emotional support, so you feel informed, nurtured, and confident as you prepare to meet your baby.

You can expect:

  • Regular prenatal visits with ample time for questions and conversation
  • Monitoring of your health and your baby’s well-being
  • Lab work and routine screenings as indicated
  • Education on nutrition, movement, and holistic wellness in pregnancy
  • Birth planning and preparation tailored to your values and preferences
  • Emotional support as you navigate the changes and transitions of pregnancy

Our hope is that you leave each visit feeling more empowered, more at peace, and more connected to your own wisdom as a mother.

Labor & Birth Support

Birth is a profound, sacred moment for you, your baby, and your family. Our role is to offer a steady, respectful presence and skilled care while honoring the natural process of labor.

During your labor and birth, we provide:

  • Continuous support once active labor is established
  • Ongoing assessment of you and your baby’s well-being
  • Comfort measures, position suggestions, and encouragement
  • A calm, grounded presence that honors your birth preferences
  • Support for your partner or birth team so they feel confident and involved

Birth is not only the arrival of your baby. It is also the birth of you as their mother in a new way. Our desire is that you feel safe, seen, and deeply supported as you bring your child into the world.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum is a tender, important season—physically, emotionally, and relationally. My care continues well beyond the birth, so you never feel left alone to “figure it out.”

Postpartum care includes:

  • In-home or office visits in the early days after birth (timing based on your needs and practice policies)
  • Follow-up appointments through the first six weeks postpartum
  • Assessment of your physical healing and emotional well-being
  • Newborn checks in the early postpartum period
  • Support with feeding (breast/chestfeeding or bottle), sleep, and newborn care
  • Space to process your birth story and your transition into motherhood

I want you to leave the postpartum period feeling more confident, more supported, and more aware of your own strength and value.

Newborn & Feeding Support

Care for your baby and support around feeding are woven into our postpartum visits.

We provide:

  • Newborn assessments and monitoring in the early weeks
  • Guidance on normal newborn behavior, feeding patterns, and weight gain
  • Basic lactation support and positioning help

Holistic Preconception & Planning Support

You don’t have to wait until you’re pregnant to begin receiving care. If you are thinking about pregnancy, planning for the future, or wondering if midwifery care is right for you, we can meet to discuss:

  • Your health history and pregnancy goals
  • Basic preconception wellness and lifestyle support
  • What to expect from midwifery care and homebirth (if applicable)
  • Any questions or concerns you’d like to explore before conceiving

These conversations are a gentle way to step into your journey with clarity and confidence.

Referrals & Collaborative Care

You are not alone, and you are not limited to one provider. When needed, we collaborate with and refer to other professionals so you can receive truly comprehensive care.

Referrals may include:

  • Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians
  • Lactation consultants
  • Chiropractors
  • Pediatric dentists (for oral restrictions/ties)
  • Other specialists, based on your individual needs

My goal is always the safety of you and your baby, as well as your empowerment as a mother. Referrals are one way we honor both.

  • Your health history and pregnancy goals
  • Basic preconception wellness and lifestyle support
  • What to expect from midwifery care and homebirth (if applicable)
  • Any questions or concerns you’d like to explore before conceiving

These conversations are a gentle way to step into your journey with clarity and confidence.
